Executive Board Meeting – June 15, 2006
President Jeann’e Butler called the
meeting to order with 21 members present.
Minutes of the May 18, 2006 executive board meeting were approved as
written in the Newsletter.
Debra Hanson gave the Treasurer’s
Report.
Committee reports began with Block
of the Month and Rose reporting all is on track. She hinted about an upcoming interesting
block.
Shirley Gilmore reported 14 entries
on the Challenge.
Liz Ritchie indicated 21 people
have signed up next month for charm squares and thanked all who have
contributed 5” blocks for the quilt show.
Judi Cooper was happy to report
there were 29 Community Quilts turned in at the June meeting. She said the quality was astounding and
showed three special quilts and discussion followed regarding the use of these
special quilts made by Susan Prukop. She
further indicated that the Quilt tying at PUD (May 13th) and the Habitat for
Humanity presentation (May 21st) were a rewarding success. A motion was made and carried to place the
quilts for sale in the Boutique of the Quilt Show to supplement the budget of
Community Quilts, saving any unsold quilts for special donations or occasions.
Twy
announced the next documentation would take place in September.
Jen reminded everyone present that
Healthy Quilters is scheduled for this Saturday. Rose Shaw suggested it would be helpful for
all guild members to circulate the benefit of Healthy Quilters so everyone
knows what is available.
Gretchen stated there were eight
books donated last month for the library.
Phoebe stated there are now 119
members and a brief discussion followed regarding the growth of the guild.
Rosalie once again reminded
everyone present that there is a dire need for a Programs Volunteer for the
upcoming year.
Jean Bishop said she intends on
stepping up the activity of publicity for the quilt show now that she has
finished with school.
Rose, speaking for the Quilt Show
Committee, discussed a meeting with the Middle School Superintendent and
mentioned issues which were handled. A
discussion followed which included possible sites for future shows.
Suzanne solicited items for the
grab bags, including fat quarters or other sizes of fabric pieces. The raffle quilt for next year was also
discussed at this time and an upcoming meeting was referenced.
Karen indicated that the Row Robin
is on schedule & Gretchen stated she appreciates the contributions made for
the Special Raffle.
Jen provided all members present
with a complete and concise proposal to curb the cost of 2007 workshops. A lengthy discussion followed and the
suggestion was made to table the issue until next meeting to digest the
report. Members also thanked Jen for all
of her work on this project.
Anne Hendrickson informed members
present of the procedure for entries in the Lincoln County Fair. She also had materials available and
encouraged participation. She stated the
date to submit entries is July 10, 2006.
Old Business was opened with an
announcement by Helen regarding the Curves raffle quilt, which she stated she
has tickets for and that the drawing will be held in September.
The Quilt Show Committee then
requested and received volunteers to survey alternative facilities for the
quilt show. A discussion followed and
several interesting ideas were suggested which will be examined more and a
suggestion made in September.
The group was reminded that ideas
for challenges should be submitted by September.
