General Membership Meeting – June 8, 2006

President Jeann’e Butler called the meeting to order.  The program then began with a presentation from Patti Hyder, followed by representatives of the Maritime Museum accepting a quilt made by select members of the guild.  The social break was next.

The meeting was re-opened with Shirley bringing the attention to the Challenges presentation made in the hall, requesting all members vote. 

Ann, representing Membership Committee, requested volunteers for distribution of the Quilt Show Flyers in North County, followed by an announcement regarding the raffle quilt made by the Curves participants.  Ann mentioned she has tickets for sale. 

Nan Scott briefly discussed the pending survey and requests all members participate either by the internet or by written ballots, which are available at the front table.  The next request came from Liz Ritchie, encouraging sign-ups for the Quilt Show volunteer slots.  Suzanne Dandoy made the ending request for grab-bag contents. 

Berta Beachtell thanked the June hostesses and Nan announced the second tea party June 24, 2006 at Quilter’s Cove.  Show and Tell followed and next was Block of the Month, which was drawn by Jane Szabo.  The next drawing was Quilter’s Surprise, followed by the Special Raffle. 

Debra Hansen presented the Treasurer’s Report reporting a bank balance of $7,230.59. The minutes of the General Meeting were discussed and it was decided the May minutes would be printed in the next newsletter, as they were not available for the past newsletter.  Membership reported 62 people present with one guest. 

Liz Ritchie thanked the members for their contribution of the 5” squares for the Quilt Show and mentioned the charm squares for next month will be yellow, with the request they be put in a zip lock bag. 

Twy Hoch thanked all who assisted in making the raffle quilt for the Maritime Museum.  She mentioned that tickets are on sale now and the raffle will take place in September. 

Nan Scott reminded members that raffle tickets for the redwork quilt must be turned in by the next General Meeting. 

Paulette thanked the Row Robin participants; stating the next exchange will be in September. 

Judy Cooper extended warm thanks for the contributions made for Community Quilts, mentioning the recent gift to the Habitat for Humanity House in Lincoln City.   

The next quilt show meeting is June 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Carriage House.  Entry forms were available at the entrance table and Nan mentioned she would be willing to take pictures for the entries if members want to bring them to the T-party on the 24th. 

Suzanne Dandoy mentioned blocks have been submitted for the 2007 Raffle Quilt and requests assistance in selection of the blocks. 

The program for next month will be finished U.F.O.’s.  Upcoming workshops were discussed and it was noted they would all be discussed in the newsletter.
