President elect Jeann’e Butler called the meeting to order. The members enjoyed the Christmas potluck luncheon and Helen Treend opened the general business meeting by taking the opportunity to thank the members for their support. She was then presented with the Presidential Quilt and a scrapbook.
The new president, Jeann’e Butler accepted the gavel and began the general meeting by thanking the December hostess committee for the Christmas potluck luncheon.
The meeting was turned over to Paulette Sternberg who introduced the Round Robin groups and each member showed their quilts.
A discussion followed regarding the 2006 “straight robin” quilt and Karen & Paulette advised the members they would be conducting an instruction class January 21, 2006 for the blocks. Examples were shown.
The minutes of the November 10 meeting were approved.
Debra Hanson, treasurer, reported the present bank balance as $4,736.83.
The new president brought a suggestion box and informed the members that the box would be present at the front table for future meetings.
The committee reports were called for with brevity requested.
Charm Squares: Liz Ritchie said 14 people signed up for the January exchange the design to be CHRISTMAS PRINT and the squares from the December exchange will be distributed at the next meeting with absent member’s squares being mailed.
Block of the Month: Cheryl Mottner discussed the house blocks and the president advised that the blocks would be displayed at the quilt show and judged by a committee for inclusion in the 2007 raffle quilt. The extra blocks will be given away by a drawing for the makers of the blocks.
Workshops: Linda MacKown talked about the January workshops, scheduled for January 6th and 20th. Ginny Kelly will teach them and the subject will be machine quilting, beginning and intermediate. Ginny then showed the group some of her work. Linda said the cost will be $32 and indicated space is still available.
Linda briefly discussed the February class, which will be taught by Philomath Quilt shop owners Jan and Lou.
New Members: Jennifer Reinhart discussed a new group forming, the Healthy Quilters, scheduled to meet the 3rd Saturday of each month at PUD where experienced quilters will be available to assist and instruct new members.
Membership: Phoebe Hein reported 55 members present and 2 guests.
Carol Culton briefly discussed the by-law changes and made a motion to continue the changes until after the Holidays. Shirley Gilmore seconded the motion and it was approved.
Hostessing: Berta Beachell advised a sign up sheet for upcoming meetings is circulating and encouraged all members to sign up to help.
Documentation: Twy Hoch advised there would be no report this month.
Community Quilts: Debra Hanson reports there has been 160 quilts distributed to the community this year and gave a special thanks to Rose Shaw, Gretchen Jolie, Dolores Wagner and Judi Cooper. A drawing was held for the community quilt donors. Paulette Stenberg won a gift certificate for $200. Paulette Stenberg & Judi Cooper donated the most community quilts this year (30 each).
Challenge Quilt 2006: Shirley Gilmore briefly discussed the challenge and reminded members that the Ugly Fat Quarter Exchange is ongoing.
All of the members appreciated show and Tell while 11 people displayed their works of art.
Block of the month was won by Jane Szabo.
Berta Beachell mentioned the gift boxes at each place setting and credited Cheryl Mottner for the idea and production.
Quilters Surprise: Denise DeMarie made the presentation and Anne Hendrickson & Judy Muller won the gift bags.
Special Projects: Pam Werth thanked everyone for the donations and there were many winners this month.
The basket of fat quarters was passed around for the gift exchange the the meeting was adjourned.
