Attendance: 52 members and 2 guests

The meeting was called to order by President Helen Treend.  Minutes of the July 14, 2005, meeting were approved as printed in the newsletter. 

Treasurer’s Report: Debra Hanson reported a bank balance of $6688.26 and a balance of $245.80 in the Community Services grant.

Program: Suzanne Dandoy presented a summary of her experiences at the Tokyo International Quilt Show in January and showed materials from two classes she took at The Appliqué Society’s May conference.  Jan Hoffman encouraged members to complete the survey for future programs and workshops.

Quilt Show Report and Awards: Jeann’e Butler announced that 1228 persons attended the show, which included about 150 quilts and 20 vendors.  She distributed checks to members who had won prizes in various categories.  Helen expressed appreciation, by name, to persons who had worked on the quilt show and will have certificates for them at the next meeting.

Refreshments: Betty Jones, Phoebe Hein, and Jean Maupin were the evening’s hostesses. During the refreshment break, attendees were encouraged to view the slide show Nan Scott provided on the quilt show in Sisters and on our guild show.

Committees:

Hostesses: Cheryl Mottner needs 1 more hostess for October and 1-2 more for December.

Raffle Quilt 2005: Jean  Amundson said about 2500 tickets were sold; the quilt was won by a quilt guild president in California.

Membership: Carol Coulton introduced guests and 2 new members; the guild has 116 members.

Workshops: Jean described upcoming workshops that still have space for attendees.

Field Trips: Denise DeMarie has added an additional stop at a quilt show in Salem to the October 8 field trip to the Mennonite quilt auction.  Space is available at $18 per attendee.

Community Quilts: Dolores Wagner said that 7 quilts were tied at the quilt show.

Charm Squares: Phoebe Hein asked participants to bring 18 squares of dotted fabric next month.

Round Robin Quilts: Paulette Stenberg chastised participants who did not return their latest round robin projects and explained that the next borders are to be pieced from rectangles.

Library: Pam Werth requested ideas for books to be added to the guild’s library.

Drawings:

Quilter’s Surprise was won by Nan Scott.  Denise said one surprise is still to be delivered.

Blocks of the Month were won by Karen Oetjen.  Sally Morris distributed and explained the blocks for next month.

Special Project Drawings were won by several members.  Pam thanked members for their donations for these drawings.

Old Business:

Quilt at North Lincoln County Historical Museum: Suzanne said the quilt would be in place by the weekend and encouraged members to come to the museum to quilt on either Wednesdays or Thursdays, from 12-5 p.m.  Quilters will receive free admission to see the museum.

State Fair: Twy Hoch needs 1 more person to quilt at the fair on September 3.  The group will start quilting the 2006 raffle quilt.

New Business: Challenge Quilts for 2006: Written ideas should be given to Helen.  They will be discussed by the board at its September meeting.

Show and Share: Helen Treend, Paulette Stenberg, and Linda Goebel shared quilts they had made.  Then the meeting was adjourned by the president.
