Activities
Charm Squares:
Each month participating members bring 7" cotton squares of a prescribed color or pattern to exchange. This is an excellent way to expand your "stash". Sign up to participate at the monthly general meetings.
Colors or prints for 2010 are:
Feb-Red or hearts, Mar-Green or Shamrocks, Apr- I Spy prints, May-Pastel floral, June-Garden print, July-Red, white and/or blue, Aug-Back to School or Sunflowers, Sep-Fairy frost, Oct-Fall fabric, Nov-Birds, Dec-Glitzy or metallic, Jan 2011-Snow related print..
Community Quilts:
Members of the Guild make quilts that are donated to those in need in Lincoln County. Work sessions are held usually on the 1st Thursday of the month at the fabric shop in Toledo and on most Tuesdays at Barb and Wilma's studio on 13th Street in Newport.
Pillow Project Particulars: Pillows for Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital patients being discharged should be square with finished size between 11-14" The most popular size is 13" finished. The Hospital Auxiliary provides the stuffing for the pillows; it is brought to each meeting and is located at the Community Quilt area. These pillows are best with light stuffing only--do not make them super firm. Our guild label needs to be sewn on the back of the pillow--the labels are obtained from Community Quilts.
We are now also making a different size pillow for the hospital
dialysis center. These need to be 16-18" long by 10" wide. These
pillows need to be stuffed more heavily than our other pillows.
Community Quilts plan to have kits made for these items--great idea!
All completed pillows are to be given to Community Quilts--they keep track of the number of our donations and deliver them to the hospital.

Challenge Quilts:
This year's Challenge Quilt is titled Alphabet Soup. You draw three letters and make your quilt using only the three colors represented by the letters. Contact Marylynn Kleemann
Small Quilt Auction:
Each year at the Quilt Show we have an auction of small quilts donated by OCQG members. The designated charity will be selected in a drawing from participating members. Because we’re space-limited, we’d like quilts to be no more than 120 ” in perimeter. You may set a minimum price/starting bid price, or note an estimated value, or both.
Let Karen Donobedian or Paulette Stenberg know if you’ll participate, and turn in quilts no later than the July meeting.
Pot Luck:
We have two pot lucks a year - May and December. The potlucks become the program for the General Meeting during those months.
