Block of the Month
July-August

August's Block of the Month is called Ohio Star

Your packet came with white fabric already cut to size.

Make templates for the applique pieces being sure to add a quarter inch around for turning.

Choose a rose and pink with good contrast and cut your pieces.

Since all of the pieces are symmetrical, I like to use freezer paper templates. I iron the paper shiny side to the wrong side of the fabric. Cut it out with a quarter inch allowance.

Then I peel the freezer paper off and reposition it with shiny side UP on the wrong side of the fabric.

Clip curves for easier turning and then turn the allowance using the tip of the iron to press in to place. The freezer paper will hold your allowance and pressing will give a nice crisp edge for blind stitching.
